Listening to some of these older podcasts on “baking” day. Of course I love this one. Love IF. It works for me in so many ways. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge J and D.🩷

Great episode :) people should know the benefits of fasting because you usually hear people saying it is so dangerous and you should starve yourself if you want to thrive but there is a time and place for everything, including fasting. We have lost the ability to manage our bodies and minds in terms of fasting because of the foods that we eat nowadays and the quality of these; filled with sugars and ultra processed things that cause our brains to be enslaved to the dopamine hit every time. It’s sad.

This time Daryl first curse was way into the episode 😉 always a nice touch.

J you should get sick more often for the sake of the show 😆 kidding, we like both tones of your voice.

Happy 2024

I don't think Daryl will be ok with me getting sick again. She is determined to prove I'm a robot😂

I agree with you. Fasting is simply a tool that mimics a physiological state that we once existed in and we can leverage that state to our metabolic advantage. It can be abused, it can be used improperly and it can be used at inappropriate times but it is still a beneficial tool that we can learn to use. Even I am still learning after 10 years of using it!

What is the course of taking the zinc when fighting something?

Great question! So the success of this therapy depends on early detection. So at the first sign of anything “off” start taking the lozenges one every 2 hours or so for the first 48hrsh(allowing them to dissolve completely in the mouth...no chewing😁). After that you either caught it or you didn’t and more won’t necessarily be better if full blown symptoms occur.

I wonder if this protocol interrupts the sickness initiation process ? 🤔

I have lots of thoughts on this. I believe that bacterial infection responds better to fasting than viral infection. Let your appetite be your guide. It also depends on the current stressed state of the system. Lots of variables to consider!

I was talking about the zinc protocol hehe

Oh haha it does a great job if you catch it early and don’t stop too soon. I think I did the latter 😄

J and D, thanks for answering my question about fasting. One question I still have is how many days in a row should I fast (16-hour fasting)? Again, I'm a generally-healthy 54-year old man.

So for that one Steve you may want to experiment a bit. Since that fast isn’t too long you could do that most days. Often I tell people to fit it into their lifestyle. So maybe during the week you fast that way and less strict on the weekend. Hope that helps!

I have to agree with J here in terms of how personal fasting is. I have had to break fasts before just because I wasn't feeling optimal that day and on other days I've prolonged them because I was feeling great. It's difficult to give away a "blueprint" because of how personal it is. I personally like the 16 hour-ish as my intermitted fasting window. Then I'll play around with 24 hour fasts throughout the week depending on where I am in my cycle. Hope this helps!
